Patient Guide
GLP-based medications have changed the way medical weight loss is approached.
For the right patient, medications in this category can be powerful tools for reducing appetite, improving control over food intake, and supporting meaningful, sustainable weight loss.
But I don't believe in simply prescribing a medication and sending you on your way.
At Blackline Performance Health, I want you to understand what to expect, what changes are normal, and how to get the most from your treatment.
One of the first things many patients notice is that they simply aren't as hungry.
You may:
• Feel full sooner during meals
• Stay satisfied longer after eating
• Think about food less frequently
• Experience fewer cravings
• Find portion control easier
• Feel less compelled to snack between meals
For many patients, this change in appetite is what makes weight loss feel more manageable than previous attempts.
Instead of constantly fighting hunger, the medication can help turn down the volume.
GLP therapy isn't about losing as much weight as possible, as quickly as possible.
I am much more interested in helping you achieve meaningful improvements in body composition and long-term health.
Your response will be individual. Some people begin losing weight relatively quickly, while others require more time or dose adjustment before noticing substantial changes.
I don't expect your progress to look exactly like someone else's.
GLP medications can cause side effects, particularly when treatment begins or the dose is increased.
The most common are gastrointestinal and may include:
• Nausea
• Feeling unusually full
• Constipation
• Diarrhea
• Indigestion or reflux
• Abdominal discomfort
• Occasionally vomiting
Not everyone experiences these effects, and when they do occur, they are often manageable and may improve as the body adjusts.
This is one reason these medications are typically started at a lower dose and increased gradually when appropriate.
More medication isn't automatically better.
My goal is to find an approach that produces results while remaining tolerable for you.
I don't want you simply becoming a smaller version of yourself.
When I manage medical weight loss, I also care about body composition.
Preserving lean muscle while losing body fat is particularly important, especially for patients who train or want to maintain strength and physical performance.
That means adequate protein, resistance training, nutrition, hydration, sleep, and lifestyle still matter.
The medication is a tool.
I want to help you use that tool effectively.
At Blackline Performance Health, I personally evaluate your progress and response to treatment.
If your appetite becomes excessively suppressed, side effects become problematic, progress stalls, or something simply doesn't feel right, I can evaluate what is happening and determine whether adjustments are appropriate.
I don't believe medical weight loss should consist of receiving an injection and hoping for the best.
I want to know how you're responding.
GLP-based medications can make weight loss dramatically more achievable for appropriate patients—but medication is only part of the process.
My goal is to help you lose body fat, preserve muscle, improve your health, and create results you can actually maintain.
