Patient Guide
Testosterone replacement therapy can be an effective treatment for appropriately selected men with testosterone deficiency, but like any medical treatment, TRT can have potential side effects.
I don't believe those possibilities should scare you away from treatment.
I believe you should understand them—and have a provider who knows what to monitor.
At Blackline Performance Health, I personally manage my patients throughout treatment. My goal is to help you receive the benefits of testosterone therapy while monitoring your health, laboratory results, symptoms, and response along the way.
Not every man experiences side effects, and individual responses to testosterone can vary.
Potential effects I may monitor for include:
• Increased hematocrit or red blood cell production
• Acne or oily skin
• Changes in estradiol levels
• Fluid retention
• Changes in mood or libido
• Changes in blood pressure
• Worsening of untreated or severe sleep apnea
• Reduction in sperm production and fertility
• Decreased testicular size or function
• Changes in prostate-related markers
• Changes in cholesterol or other cardiovascular risk factors
The presence of a potential side effect does not automatically mean TRT needs to be stopped.
It means the treatment needs to be properly monitored and managed.
TRT shouldn't be a prescription you receive and then forget about.
I use follow-up evaluations and appropriate laboratory testing to understand how your body is responding to treatment.
If something needs attention, I can evaluate the situation and make clinically appropriate adjustments rather than allowing a potentially manageable issue to go unnoticed.
My goal isn't simply to increase your testosterone. It's to optimize treatment responsibly.
Some problems associated with TRT can be influenced by factors such as dose, frequency, individual physiology, other health conditions, and the way your body responds to testosterone.
That's another reason I don't believe in treating every man with exactly the same protocol.
I personally review your response and make treatment decisions based on you, not on a predetermined formula.
Potential side effects shouldn't be ignored—but they shouldn't automatically prevent an appropriate patient from considering testosterone therapy either.
TRT is medicine, and I treat it that way.
When you choose Blackline Performance Health, you work directly with me. I will evaluate your progress, monitor appropriate health markers, answer your questions, and make adjustments when clinically appropriate.
You won't be left trying to interpret your labs or manage your hormones by yourself.
Schedule your consultation with me.
I'll help you understand the potential benefits and risks, determine whether testosterone therapy is appropriate for you, and if treatment is started, personally monitor your response along the way.
